4 months is too long for a league and its clear by looking at playercount

https://steamcharts.com/app/238960#6m

17k 24hour peak, this includes standard players

Start of league 178k peak

We are currently on Month 3 and the league is already dead with 90% player loss

Yet there is an entire extra month ( September ) where that will dwindle down even further

Its clear that the decision to move to 4 months ( due to poe2 ) is a huge mistake for POE1

POE2's statistics and players should not be impacting or influencing POE1

POE1 should be getting a new league launch in September, but instead its expected in October

I think alot of players want to see POE1 return back to the 3 month cycle and it would probably convince more POE1 players that POE1 is back on the right track and be more willing to support it financially

The 4 month switch has left us with smaller content and leagues for the past few years, everytime players think about the 4 month cycle we get reminded that its due to the broken promise that POE2 will not affect POE1

This is my feedback

Personally I think 4 months is good, because not everyone wants to play poe 24/7 for the whole league, I believe most people need the break between leagues. 2+ months of doing something else to get the excitement for next league.
I think 4 month is too short. It should be 6 month, so both players can fully enjoy it and devs can prepare some content. Not everyone playing 24/7.

I am only getting started. Lvled my char to 100, completed challenges and now testing different farm strats. Also want to try second char.

And the method of reducing people loss shouldn't be "decrease league time span", but "increase amount of things to do". I.e. people get bored from league, when they reach limit of their chars. I.e. when you have all 21 / awa gems, 6 T1 mod gear, heist enchanted... So adding some things that costs a lot, but can further improve your build can help.

Also have a more difficult, but more rewarding content to use this power. Like possesed exiles + titanic scarab under delirium (though it's not very rewarding now)
I would also welcome going back to 12 week leagues.
People who say they want leagues longer are tiny minority, based on player count stats on steam.
I feel like 6 months is too long and this is coming from someone who has played since 2019 blight league. Settlers league was almost a year and that was very boring after 4 months. I don't play 24/7 either, but when I do play I am very efficient with my time, between work, family, hobbies, etc. I still manage to get 40/40, farm atleast 1x mirror worth of currency to xfer to std, then retire from the league or keep farming passively until merge.

4 Months is a good amount of time and a slight upgrade from 3 months and also falls in line perfectly with POE 2's content releases now which is what GGG's primary goal was; if they change this, they have to change the entire model.

I don't see that happening.

The shorter the league, the less time GGG has to spend on making the next one, resulting in simpler and shallower mechanics.

Sorry, I don't think we need more Breach clones.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

It depends on who we're talking about here for "a lot of players".

Hard disagree on your point. Settlers was a great league and leagues should last way more than 3-4 months, and I share the same sentiment with other ARPGs that follow that format like D3 (gasp, we don't speak about that here).

There are multitudes of "casual" (for lack of a better term) players who have acquired enough knowledge/skill about the endgame but don't have the raw "smash your head against a wall" hours to sink in like those wonderful people shown on streamer compilation videos on youtube (e.g. zizaran, fubgun, ruetoo, alkaizer, spicysushi).

By the time they acquire some wealthy comfort in the league to get serious about their builds, and branching into different builds/characters based on the league mechanics (mercs now)...the league is over, and their time is wasted.

I am one of those players, but since I don't open my wallet each league to the tune of triple digits, my opinion is irrelevant.

Que the replies saying "dude I have a full time job and I got mageblood fifth day of the league". No you didn't, get out.

there are two main groups of players

- single character per league (that includes 'starting' character that one drop at lvl 90 and switches

- multi character (like Mathil - one char every ~week

Imo, burnout of the first group is inevitable and piling layers of 'harder' content (aka boring numerical BS scaling) leads nowhere. these people play the best 5 builds anyway, ignoring everything else

the second group has it fine and interesting for the entire duration because there are like 170 skills (+ variants) over dozens of archetypes etc

POE should put more, MUCH MORE, effort into convincing people that many characters per league is actually viable choice that brings variety and freshness.

attaching uber-uber-uber content to the game leads to people playing the same (mostly broken but unpatched) broken shit by everyone and devolves the otherwise complex game into caricature so im all against it

youve completed your character? here, you can make another
I'm still playing the game. 4 months is perfect for me... I take a break sometimes and then want to come back and farm.

I guess it's really just down to the individual and/or the league's ability to keep people engaged.

I know what you're saying but that doesn't mean these last 2 months will be empty. There could be events and temporary leagues in the meantime, it takes them virtually no time at all to set up a temporary event if they don't have to create new content on the fly.
I love 4 month leagues.
Also using the drop of as an argument is silly as 3 month leagues showed the same, hell back then ppl used this argument to push for 2 month leagues.
