Arc in 0.3 Patch Notes is NERFED??
In the patch notes, Arc is presented as it is getting a buff.
Arc: Is now a Projectile. It no longer causes explosions against shocked enemies and is no longer a payoff skill. It now chains 6-9 times at Gem levels 5-20 (previously 5-8). It now has 50% more shock magnitude, and can now consume a lightning infusion to chain additional times and deal more damage. Now deals 2-39 damage at Gem level 5 (previously 5-31), scaling up to 20-386 damage at gem level 20 "(previously 49-277)". Quality now provides Chains +0-2 additional times (previously 0- 2% more Damage for each remaining Chain). But When I look at the skill in game and in https://poe2db.tw/us/Arc, arc does "82-462" dmg at level 20, not 49-277 which is what is written in the patch notes. Can someone clarify if I am missing something or it is just intentional to make arc look better? Update: 49-277 was pulse dmg arc did on top of hit dmg if the target was shocked. So, after changes, - It is no longer pay off, loses additional (49-277) dmg. - Base dmg is actually nerfed to 20-386 from 82-462. That is one way to show a skill as buffed when it was nerfed more than warriors I guess. Last edited by Penguneer#7646 on Aug 25, 2025, 5:45:05 AM Last bumped on Aug 25, 2025, 11:00:38 AM

" Quality add %more damage per chain, is it your case? I mean you're looking at skill tooltip as it is now with quality giving %more damage per chain? Last edited by IILU81II#8410 on Aug 25, 2025, 5:03:05 AM

No. It is not. I am cutting a new level 20 gem and I am looking at tooltip. Also, gem quality adds dmg each remaining chain. I don't believe we can see it in the tooltip.
Lets say we did, it would have 7 remaining chains on single target. So, 14% more dmg. If what GGG says is true and lvl 20 gem does 49-277 dmg, 14% more would be 55.86-315.78. So, I am pretty sure it is not. Last edited by Penguneer#7646 on Aug 25, 2025, 5:07:19 AM

" Yeah just checked you're right LVL 5: 9-51 lightning dmg LVL 20: 82-462 Doesn't it chains 8 times tho, so the first hit would be 16%more dmg? |

Then, it will be 56.84-321.32. It is still not even close with quality.
From 277 to 462, you need ~60% more dmg. |

" Yes you are missing something. 82 – 462 = arc lightning damage 49 – 277 = arc impulse damage First it strikes with lightning damage, then mobs with shock release impulses. Last edited by Azimuthus#1135 on Aug 25, 2025, 7:34:06 AM

Keep in mind that your targets now keep the shock since its no longer consumed and we dont know the values of the lightning infusion buff. It gaining the shock magnitude is very helpful as a bonus. Also it being a projectile enables stuff like mana tempest extra splits and other split/fork/chain/extra proj shenanigans which is huge and its now affected by flame wall. You will also be able to use lightning infusions to buff flame wall for even more added damage.
Overall same stuff as every league, too much moving gears to say anything before we can test it ingame. Arc looks like a proper clear skill now which is a very welcome alternative to spark. |
