abyss ground degen
The ground degen rares leave behind deal too much damage to effectively counterplay as melee. I'm on T15 maps and it is just ridiculous.

The Abyssal ground degen feels way overtuned and is extremely frustrating to play around, worst part of the league for me. Titan with 80k armour and 3.2k life and 1k life regen (give me more life nodes please) just dies because there's no counterplay, instant life recovery flask doesn't work, can't get out in time because i'm slow af. Lower its damage so i can at least try to get out in time, make it do more damage against es while you're at it since es enjoyers can get 15k+ easily.
Also those larger breach mobs that machine gun you from nearly offscreen are way overtuned as well. Fix please. Sick and tired of having invest so much into armour life and armour applies to elemental, all res capped and still having to skirt around mobs because i can still die in semi juiced content. Yep, blocking regen is incredibly toxic. There is no reliable counterplay unless you had a poe1 speed leap slam/frostblink combo.

Any update from the Devs on this? Completely and utterly insane how much damage is STILL being done at the halfway point almost in the league.

Bumping this.
There is literally no counter play to this mechanic for melee characters. I have searched and searched. There's not an item in the game. Corrupted blood immunity doesn't work, life flasks don't work, regen doesn't work. This mechanic completely destroys any end game experience because you never know when you're going to get a boss arena filled with abyss mobs that drop it. Bosses are getting these mods from what I see as well. If you're not going to categorize it the same as corrupted blood then at least change the damage type to chaos or allow armour to reduce the degen effects so we can reasonably engage with content as melee. Dev team did great work with Elemental hits with armour. It's a step in the right direction, but having ground degens like this with no mitigation is the wrong direction and simply put, bad game design. |

It's even worse when it's on a ranged rare because then you really have no options. The ranged rare will simply refuse to leave the puddle until you're far enough out to force another teleport (and thus a new puddle), so it just hops from puddle to puddle. At least if it's melee you can sometimes kite it out of the puddle and get a few hits in.
But TBH, I think it should just be scrapped, or the recovery reduction heavily nerfed/removed so regen builds/flasking can power through. The whole mod combos way too badly with too many things to be left as it is. In terms of tanking it, AFAIK the only things that have any effect are converting it to non-phys to use your resistances, or added physical DR (not armor!), both of which are pretty rare, existing only as ascendancy perks, corrupted mods, or on uniques, or in such small quantities as to not matter. And none of those will do more than take a bit of the edge off, it'll still be too strong. |
