Essence not dropping after corrupting

Just used a Vaal orb to corrupt one of those essence splinter things. It just said essence of ice before corrupting and then included essence of battle (I think, I was gonna look at it after it dropped so not 100% sure if I’m remembering what I saw briefly correctly) and after releasing and killing the mobs only the essence of ice dropped. This is in Glacial Tarn and playing wired connection on PS5.

It happened again, but this time in Etched Ravine. This time didn’t see if any second essence was added and in the end all I got was a greater essence of ice. It seems like something is happening much more quickly than other times I’ve used Vaal orbs on these. Like it’s getting broken open at the same time I’m holding down X or something like that. Guess I’ll hold off on using it on the ice essences at least for now.

I have the same issue, before corrupting, it says essence of flame, after corrupting, it says greater essence of flame. But after killing the mob, it dropped essence of flame instead. This happen to me in interlude for all the essence i've corrupted, only the initial essence dropped after kill.

Bug happened for me today, 5.th october on current patch.

Used a vaal orb on a essence mob in the desert interlude that had a essence of flames on it, the vaal orb added on a greater essence of storm.

After releasing and killing the mob it only dropped the essence of flame. I disabled my loot filter, there was no secondary essence dropped.

GGG is this working as intended? do the added essence from vaal just have a chance of dropping, or is there like a time window before you forfeit the vaaled essence? this is not the first time this have happened to me either.
