Perfect exalt/homogenous exaltation omen together rolled a mod that shouldnt be possible.

As per the image shown, the perfect exalted orb item or the interaction between perfect exalted orb and homogenous exaltation is bugged and rolling items that should not be possible. I had Dual T1 energy shield mods, i desecrated on a low rarity mod. I then used a homogenous exaltation omen + a perfect exalted orb in order to get T2 or higher rarity on the suffix which should, by determenistic crafting, be the only possible roll. However, the perfect exalted orb which is supposed to guarantee a minimum roll of level 50+, rolled a modifier that is, at maximum tier, a level 48 modifier.

Thus in conclusion, the item must be bugged or this interaction must be bugged in some way in the current patch as it does not roll the literal only option. If this is not a bug, then a tooltip needs to be added to state that this combination does not work with desecrated mods

If you mouse over "Minimum Modifier Level" for a description...to paraphrase, it cannot completely remove a type of modifier from the pool. What you saw is correct behavior: the modifier level of the added modifier was lower than the currency's minimum modifier level, but could be added because there was no higher tier of the modifier that was valid for the item.

While it's not exposed in PoE2 the way it is in PoE1 currently, to my knowledge, the "of the same type" referred to by the Homogenising omens means the modifiers "share a crafting tag". For example, the Energy Shield modifiers have the "Defences" tag, as do Armour and Evasion Rating modifiers.

"Increased Item Rarity" does not have any tag, and so cannot be targetted by the Homogenising omens.

There's at least one more report on this topic as well:

I think we are owed some clarifacation because i used a greater exhault on a bow and using the catalyzing omen and the omen didn't work. Greater Exhault consumed .... got a cold roll and the omen / catalysts still in my inventory .... i was pissed

I don't think all of the Omens are working with the greater and perfect currencies.

....how is a Catalysing omen meant to work on a bow? You can't add Catalyst quality to a weapon.

I suspect you are wrong on this one. It seems to me, the Omen of Homogenising Exaltaion works based on tags, not on specific mods. And Rarity doesn't have a tag (as well as Spirit). You can check the tags on Poe2db in the modifiers category.

It basically means you have only the tag "Defences" which is not present in the suffix category, so it basically means that this Omen has no mod pool it can deterministically choose from, and it picked a random one.

I agree, this is a bug, but probably in terms of "when the game has no mods to deterministically choose from and you try to force it to do so, the math just breaks"

Unless I'm missing something else, this is incorrect. I was crafting a pair of pure evasion gloves. I had fractured "+ to evasion rating", rolled "%evasion", "%evasion+life", "gain % deflection rating", and desecrated "% cold resistance".

The tags on this item should be defences, life, cold, elemental, resistances. I got "of Nourishment" on my homogenising perfect exalt, which is a T1 "Gain 5 Life per Enemy Hit with Attacks" ilvl 40 despite all the other life, elemental and resistance suffixes being available.

Hell, let's assume desecrated modifiers don't count, so the only keywords on the item would be "defences" and "life". "Life" modifier "Gain (69–84) Life per Enemy Killed" is ilvl 77 as well as "Leech (9–9.9)% of Physical Attack Damage as Life" which is 81, but on my perfect exalt I rolled "Gain 5 Life per Enemy Hit with Attacks" which is ilvl 40 despite two over-50 modifiers being available.

This clearly demonstrates that the system first selects which modifier to roll, and only checks modifier ilvl when rolling for tier, and if ilvls of all modifiers are below 50, it just selects T1.
