Am I the only one who doesn't enjoy one-button builds?
I am currently playing lightning spear huntress. However I do enjoy more of a souls-like gameplay, than just riding on roa and spamming screen-clearing spears. Of course I am still playing around getting my charges for lightning spear to get rid of a large group of enemies, however i like having multiple sources for them. For example I currently use parry->disengage, parry->fangs of frost (which can also help me get out of the fight) or cull of the week and of course I have combat frenzy with Kitoko's current gloves). For bosses and rares I use storm lance and thunderous leap as a way to detonate it. Now I am in the second interlude and feeling really comfortable.
Does anyone feel the same way? What are other classes where I can experience the same type of gameplay (except monk, I already tried previous league)? Maybe someone can advise the ways to improve the build? edit: Also I understand that it might get not so comfortable in the endgame. Is there a way to improve as I go on, so I will not suck completely in mapping? And maybe someone knows another way to detonate a storm lance other than tp? Or I heard barrage and SL work well together, is it true& Last edited by FTSlarl12#4116 on Sep 29, 2025, 11:59:04 AM Last bumped on Oct 2, 2025, 10:25:18 AM

No, I'm the same. I've got a Amazon Bleed (rake, disengage, parry), Hunter Poison (poison stacking), Sorcerous Infusion (all elements). All combos. I laugh at the chaos going on, or the bursting bodies from bleed that never gets old.
I pretty much make my own builds as I go. Then if I feel I'm getting stuck I check out a build for ideas. I find that way works well as going through the process of building makes it easier to understand someone's pro build. Also SSF, so can't use some godly build based on a unique. But I'm also not going deep into the endgame, as currently it doesn't appeal to me that much right now. Last edited by GrimReaper665#4193 on Sep 29, 2025, 8:11:52 AM

i could go either way tbh, but the game would require too much balance that would be near impossible to do on GGG's side to ensure everyone is "the same".
this means that chasing 1 button is the only way to "play correctly", unfortunately. Last edited by tdonov5#2743 on Sep 29, 2025, 10:18:34 AM

" I am also running LS Spear. I am with you on this one but I think it's because we don't have a choice as LS Spear. We are forced to use multiple skills and combos. We don't have that one hit build wonder that other builds/ascendance that can do. Ls Spear is no longer broken like in 0.2 but if we do, a lot of us might be running one hit build with LS Spear. I didn't back in 0.2 so I didn't feel the nerf in 0.3 but that also means I am not as strong as the meta. Most folks like one shot builds tbh. Not my cup of tea the way. If you check other games like Diablo 4 and Borderlands 4, a lot of folks prefer to copy the meta and go with one shot, high dmg builds. Last edited by BigBoom9240#8803 on Sep 29, 2025, 10:49:17 AM

Most "One Button Build" afficionados are the Zoomer Sorts, people who want to make a character so fast, so powerful, and so massively overgeared that it stops having to engage with the game. One click of whatever their screen-erase button of choice is, and the screen gets erased. To them, that is 'Winning'. That is the point. Clicking a button and things not dying is seen as a build being unacceptably weak.
What you're seeing is the difference between "I want to win with my skills", i.e. engaging and defeating the monsters with combat ability, and "I want to win with my build", i.e. making a character too strong for the game to threaten. She/Her
