Does the inclusion of Settlers detract from the game?

I didnt play as much as I wanted last league due to a terrible League 'Mechanic' but when it was announced SoK would go Core in 3.26 I got annoyed.

Personally, it feels like Settlers as a League Mechanic went on for soooo long in 3.25 that I have 'hate' towards it and it seems to have soured my experience with the game (maybe) as I felt like I was playing SoK again in 3.26 since Kingsmarch is too good to not use.

This is my most favorite and most played game of all time but why something so seemingly small annoy me to the point of wanting to play less?

I feel like if Kingsmarch wasnt here I would actually enjoy the game more.

I guess I will see in 3.27 how I truly feel as the Breach 2.0 actually looks insanely fun.

I could just be a loser who may need to find another hobby but does anyone else know what Im feeling up in here?

It's a sticky subject, because you have diehard "settler passive income" lovers.

I personally think its among the worst decisions GGG has ever implemented, both as a league mechanic AND as a core function within the game.

Even neutered.


At the moment, does it damage the game? I don't think so. But as a potential "idea" for future development and future mechanics.......going down the idle timer route is awful.

I'm hoping to all that's holy that the genesis tree league mechanic has nothing to do with real world time. Please oh please.

Holy dam. I never thought about that. I rly hope it doesnt also. Imagine... what a disaster it would be.

That is EXACTLY my fear for any and all future content, now that GGG has shown they are willing to design in that way.

Freaking hate it. Down to my very core.

Do I like doing Settlers? Not particularly. Did I learn how to minimize my time and make good currency? YES YES YES. Do I think it is good for the game? Of course, it gets people to log in and you can completely skip it if you want.

Morale of the story? POE is a game of learning how to have a good time and to lower the time you spend on the annoying stuff you have to do to succeed. Kind of like life.
