Cannot interract with anything except chat

Today I had a performance spike during a T16 citadel, and when the game stopped lagging, my character was deceased. Time of Death 2238 EDT. When I tried to interact with the menu to go home after wasting my t16 waystone and citadel map, I could not interact with anything except the chat box, and the escape menu. Since I could basically only log out or complain in global chat after this disappointing turn of events, I decided to take a break and voice my frustration with what seem to be multifactorial issues. This is on PC client with a controller. I was only able to open the chat box or the escape menu with a keyboard. None of the input from my controller worked until after a menu was opened with the keyboard, but none of those elements within those menus allowed me to do anything except return to character menu or log out.
