Unable to connect to login server – “Downloading…” stuck and connection timeout (all gateways)
|
Hello,
I’ve been experiencing an issue when trying to launch Path of Exile via Steam. The game stays stuck on “Downloading…” in the gateway selection screen, and when I attempt to log in, I receive the message: "Unable to connect to login server." Steps to reproduce: - Launch the game through Steam. - On the gateway selection screen, it remains on “Downloading…”. - Manually selecting any gateway (EU, US, Asia, etc.) allows me to proceed to the login screen. - When pressing Log In, it shows: " This issue occurs with every gateway, not just one. I used Frankfurt (EU) as an example in the screenshots. ![]() Troubleshooting done so far: - Tested multiple gateways — same issue across all. - Checked my internet connection (stable; other online games work fine). - Disabled antivirus/firewall temporarily — no effect. - Verified integrity of game files on Steam — no issues found. - Checked the client log file for errors — found repeated connection failures related to PoE CDN and login servers (see below). Relevant log entries (from Client.txt): " and when attempting to connect to a gateway: " Network test (WinMTR): Following the instructions in the “MTR and Connectivity Issue Primer” post, I ran WinMTR tests to the relevant hosts and uploaded the results here: - WinMTR results to fra.login.pathofexile.com: https://pastebin.com/CU8SP0Zu - WinMTR results to web.poecdn.com: https://pastebin.com/2N2BgZyv Last bumped on Oct 27, 2025, 7:34:08 PM

I'm also having trouble logging in. I'm using the stand-alone client, not Steam.
Every attempt at connecting appends this to the logs/Client.txt file: 2025/10/27 19:21:33 1087372190 890d9d96 [INFO Client 224] Async connecting to dal.login.pathofexile.com:20483 2025/10/27 19:21:33 1087372257 890d9d13 [INFO Client 224] Connected to dal.login.pathofexile.com in 15ms. 2025/10/27 19:21:48 1087387497 3c73aa84 [INFO Client 224] The operation timed out. 2025/10/27 19:21:48 1087387598 5570c0fc [INFO Client 224] Abnormal disconnect: An unexpected disconnection occurred. |
