Do you use Steam or Client for POE?
|
Hello Hello,
Was curious as to what you all play on. I do have both a Steam and original POE account, I'm like a double agent 🥸 Why have two POE accounts? Good question (I wanted those Steam trading cards) I don't hate POE, but I want something back for when I spend 10 bucks on a hat (steam trading cards), soul for a soul Also, haven't used my Steam POE account in a while, so I am back. Standalone. It's nice not needing a middle man client like Steam.

Steam.
I'd much rather deal with Valve's web servers than GGG's. I noticed quite a few people posting in Technical Support about error messages they would get while attempting to update to 3.27. All of them were citing standalone client-exclusive error messages, and I couldn't find a single Steam user despite specifically looking. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

Standalone Client, even on Linux.
Only ever used the steam client on my steamdeck whenever they merged accounts. No real reason other than I don't want to load steam everytime I play. PoE2 0.3 Character: https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/abyss/character/Sadaukar-2191/Acidic_Sadaukar

Standalone because of linux. I prefer having all my poe related apps gathered in one proton prefix.
