Path of Exile Classic

Hi,

I wonder what you all think of the idea of PoE Classic.

A separate server (in similar fashion to WoW Classic) with old Versions of the Game and automatically proceeding through the leagues on a 3 month basis, maybe starting with 2.6 or 3.0.

I would find it very interesting 1. how many would actually play the old leagues and 2. how the leagues would play out when they start with all initial bugs and exploits already fixed and the meta already known.

Kind Regards

We have had some throwback events/leagues, I prefer it stayed that way. I don't see the point in splitting the playerbase further.

I believe triple g has already bitten at least a little more than they can chew with developing poe1 and 2 in parallel, there's no need to add to that.

The combination is sort of the problem, there.

While they could perhaps hack together a quick MVP of 'true' old game versions - if you're asking that they go and backport various bug and exploit fixes then you're likely increasing the workload on GGG's end to accomplish this quite significantly.

Given the palpable strain they are already under between balancing PoE 1 and PoE 2 releases, I really don't know that they have the bandwidth to also maintain a PoE 0.5.
GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

Free Technical Support guides are available here: https://www.poecommunity.help

No ads, trackers, or other weird stuff.
sure but only as a paid subscription model.

every league/game mode that GGG adds is an additional cost to them.

i rather have them use their money on more content. but if people are willing to pay for it. why not?

also the league can be a void league if balance is a concern.

Geez, guys, you're getting way to technical here.

Speculating on the workload that would add for GGG is a bit weird.

It could just as well be that they have a stable version of every patch in the archives and could run an automated dispatch that dispatches every final patch version of every league automated every 3 month, programmed in 2 days work.

So technical stuff aside, I personally would jump into a few leagues for a week or so to play an legacy CoC Assassin with double Cospris Malice during Metamorph League, that was fun.
I think this is a really good idea.

WoW classic is a big success.

They can easily keep the classic and current version running separately. They don't even need additional servers for it.

So youre saying you would be ok with them deploying the league exactly as it was during the release of the league, bugs and performance issues and all? I don't think that would be a very popular choice.

No not the release version, the final stable version, whichever it is. e.g. 3.23.3b for affliction.

Ok, sure. But that doesnt fix everything. Plenty of performance issues and bugs that pop up during a league are fixed in a later league. While I agree it would be a cool feature to go back in time, it should have some dedicated support, and that cost time/money. I see no issue with the mode being P2P.
