Foulborne Formless flame doesn't work properly

Hello,

I am using the helmet Foulborn Formless Flame... understanding that the higher the fire res, it will give me either flat life for the totems or percentage, within my skill tree I have a life bonus to the totems of 130%. Currently, when I equip the helmet, it is giving me 172 life to the totems. While my fire resistance with the helmet is 377% (89%) while being 288% overcapped... the life it gives me makes no sense or is not worth the investment.
