A plea to the developers - change XP penalty on death

Dear Developers,

In gereral I love your games both POE1 and POE2. There are many well deserved reasons for that, like the nice ARPG character building with great variety, awesome POE2 campaign (POE1 campaign is solid though not great) and the endgame mapping system with endgame bosses is the best endgame experience that ARPGs on the market currently offer. (Even though I only tackeld a small subset of endgame bosses I did a lot of mapping in both games.) For the reasons above I made the effort to write about one big issue from my point of view that considerably marrs the experience. My plea is for POE2 because I feel POE1 will remain a game for sweatlords anyway.

Though I have been playing POE 1 and 2 for long time I have been always on and off from this game with the following pattern. When I have the desire to play I level one character doing the campaign without major issues and reach mapping. During mapping the xp penalty on death really kicks in and that causes quite an anxiety for dying and that gradually ruins the whole experience. I would like to play this game doing maops without constantly being anxieous of dying. I am ok with losing the map after death as there has to be some stake but both losing the map and losing the xp is too much. Especially when you think about the hours thrown out of the window because of this mechanic. This is especially harsh in POE2 where xp penalty kick in sooneraround level 65 after finishing the campaign.
As I continue mapping my frustration because of the XP lost builds up till a point of burnout. Then I rage quit for 6,12 or 18 months until the frustration evaporates and the desire to play POE kicks in again then rinse and repeat.

Here I list several solutions that would improve the situation (again, I mean for POE2):

0. Just remove the XP penalty on death. I would not misss it, not even a bit. However I also know there are too many sweatlords in the community and you developers seem to be a little bit too obsessed with difficulty for that to happen.

1. Let XP penalty on death kick in after level 90. That would mean, mere mortals like myself could enjoy the journey up tp level 90 anxiety free, and accept level 90 as a soft levelcap and then scale the XP penalty on death above level 90 as much as you want and the sweatlords could sweat as much as they want. Achieveing lvl 100 will reamin a rare achievement same as now. For the mere mortals lvl 90 would provide decently enough passive points to tackle endgame content if their builds are good. I believe this solution would bring the best for both worlds, and If I was in the place of the developers I would implement this solution.

2. Beside Hardcore league make an "I am a filthy casual" league without XP penalty on death. I am aware that would mean a separate economy for that league and the player base would be more fragmented but you would keep those players that are currently driven away because of the XP penalty on death. I personally would welcome this solution too.

3. Make XP penalty on death start with 5% at Tier 6 maps and 10% at Tier 12 maps. Frankly speaking this solution would not make me completely happy but it would certainly improve the situation.A lot.

I believe if you POE2 developers wish the second iteration of POE to be more accessible you need to do something about XP penalty on death. At its current state it causes way too much frustration and anxiety.

If anyone from the developer team reads this I would like to hear what their opinion about these suggestions are, and I kindly ask to explain me in a few sentences what is the reasoning behind XP penalty on death. (And yes I heard about glass cannon builds would be too prevalent, but you lose the map if you die anyway and the bosses reset if you die anyway and I am OK with both but that is punishment enough. It is very easy to die in POE no matter the version and I am fine with that too.)

For those who red this wall of text thank you.

It doesn't matter.

If you do not lose exp, you will complain about portals. Or that you have no way stones left.

What you have to do is:
1. Find out what is causing you to die.
2. Fix your build to stop dying.

There is really no other option.
