Cannot Load into game after maintenance

After selecting character, infinite loading screen for town.
also attempted old character that is in a different town, they also have an infinite loading screen.
everything was fine before the maintenance.
I was inside someone elses vaal temple lobby room when server went down, and upon logging in am not loading into there. if that somehow is related to the bug.

My friend is having the same problem. If you find a fix, please post here

Small Update: after something like 12 minutes of loading in on an old character I finally loaded in. will re-attempt to load in on my druid, but I had already sat in the loading screen with it for a very long time and never got in.
