Elemental Surges not correctly triggering on Rolling Magma

Im playing Amazon with the Elemental Surges Skill consuming Power Charges with Rend. That gives me 3 Lightning Surges which are consumed by Rolling Magma but never deal any damage. On Oil Barrage it seems to be working properly, I can also see an lightning explosion on an not-empowered Oil Barrage. But when I use Rolling Magma the Surge gets consumed and the Projectile has a visual effect of lightning which looks like it is actually carrying the surge but this effect is gone after the first bounce and now explosion is happening. I also tested it by giving Elemental Surges Living Lighting, which I see working on Oil Barrage's projectiles but not on Rolling Magma.

This whole thing might be intended but then it should be clarified in Elemental Surges somehow. Up to this point it just says "Projectiles that split or for do not gain the benefits of surges" in the surge description. I don't see any reason why Rolling Magma should not gain them.

Also Salvo stops the surges from beeing consumed for some reason.

Edit: Salvo does work, Nova Projectiles makes Oil Barrage not consume surges.
