SUGGESTION: optional permanent buff icons AND remove summon skeleton shrines
|
I am playing a Headhunter/Golden Charlatan Penance Brand of Dissipation Elementalist (https://poe.ninja/poe1/builds/keepers/character/frisbog-7026/Shardling?i=0&search=name%3Dshardling) and finding it quite fun and rewarding.
However, I keep running into a likely unintended consequence that caps the build: FPS. While running Endless Legion scarabs, I am killing at least a dozen rare mobs every one or two seconds and building up many stacks of every shrine. Unfortunately, this means piling my screen with about one hundred gorillion skeletons. Since shrine abilities cast from the buff, no player-based limiters work (Dark Monarch, Alberon's Warpath, etc.). The FPS drop eventually turns to a freeze and I have to leave the map or wait several minutes for the buffs to run out and game to catch up. But I ask: What is Summon Skeleton Shrine really DOING for the game? Perhaps the devs leave it in to give the player a taste for what it's like to have many minions but...that momentary feeling of novelty for new players must compete with bricking a build for experienced players. Frankly, I can think of no other reason, because as discussed earlier, the skeletons can't be modified by the player's equipment or passive tree, so the shrine skeletons can't be turned into something actually useful. If the devs felt like it was worth hard-capping Golden Charlatan builds to actually be useless for Atlas strategies that involve killing many rare mobs, then I offer an alternative solution: an option in the UI tab that simply allows players to hide permanent buff icons, like those granted by golems, heralds, equipment (e.g., Blunderbore, Venarius's Astrolabe). As it stands, it looks like there is only room for about 24 buff icons at the top of the screen, and my golems alone take up 11 of them, meaning by the time I am in map and have 40+ skeleton shrine buffs to right-click off, the icon is in my kitchen making itself a snack. Since the game already offers players some means of controlling buff icons in the UI, I recommend expanding this capacity to give more complete control. If I need to confirm whether a buff is active, I can look in the character pane, the skill breakdown, or the character itself. Please make either or both of these changes so I can enjoy this build next league instead of merely pining to experience its potential. Thanks. Last bumped on Dec 15, 2025, 11:51:35 AM
