Can't enter Lost Temple

I was in The Halani Gates, completed a Vaal encounter, which brought me to the Vaal Ruins Temple Console room. I put the new rooms on the temple map, and then went AFK there for 15-20 minutes. When I came back, I was still logged in at the same location, but it wouldn't let me enter the Lost Temple. It briefly flashed "Entering Lost Temple" but immediately gives the error "Error: Failed to join instance because: Disconnected from server."

I tried the following but nothing helped:
-CTRL+clicking the Lost Temple entrance to create new instance, but it doesn't actually give the option, it just repeats the error

-Logged out to character screen and logged back in

-Completely closed and reopened the game (game did update during this time)

-Teleported back to town and back to Vaal Ruins

-Took the red Vaal portal back to The Halani Gates, and back to the Vaal Ruins Temple Console room. I also tried CTRL+Clicking the red Vaal portal while on Halani Gates, but it did not give the option to reset the instance

-Reopened the Temple Console and it only gives the option to 'Close Temple 0/6' even though I never ran it
