Oil Barrage fails frequently on uneven ground

I have been really enjoying using the Oil Barrage skill so far, but I have one major complaint about it. The projectiles seem to be very low to the ground, which means that any change of elevation makes them hit the ground instead of the enemies that I'm aiming at. This makes the skill borderline unusable in a lot of layouts and is very frustrating.

It seems kind of finicky overall, I often have cases where I hold the button and point at an enemy but it stops spraying early for some reason too. Also elevation issues and collision are a problem even for the basic attacks of the wyvern form too, where you miss even though visually it looks like you should be hitting the enemy.
