Poison Spores not working with Staffs

The Support Gem Poison Spores is recommendet for Spells like Entangle and Thashing Vines however you would use a Staff with these skills. Poison Spores is flagged as Attack skill and thus cant be used with Staffs. The ineraction together with Briarpatch would be really cool so just let me use the Support Gem with my Staff :)
