Rare monster icons :(

I was one of the players who spoke up early about how strongly I disliked the removal of rare monster icons, and how frustrating the game felt to play after the mid-season update last season.

Now that you’ve changed it so all map icons become visible after killing the boss and discovering all checkpoints, I still don’t feel that the core problem has been solved.

In the interview, it was mentioned that players usually run past all checkpoints on the way to the boss anyway — but that is simply not true. There might be two, at most three, maps where this applies. In most cases, maps are designed in a way that forces you to backtrack through the entire area. Because of this, you often haven’t discovered all checkpoints when you reach the boss. As a result, this solution feels pointless and, honestly, not very good or enjoyable to play.

I also mentioned earlier how extremely difficult and exhausting it is to know where to aim or use skills when fighting rare monsters. They all look the same unless they have some very obvious aura or visual effect. One solution that many players suggested was an option in the settings to enable rare monster icons, or to have them appear when you get close to the monster. Like Rogue exiles appear on the map. That would make encounters much clearer visually and improve gameplay readability.

Sure, it’s nice to see all possible icons after killing the boss and activating every checkpoint. But as a solution to the actual problem, I don’t think this works at all.
