Vaal ruins shouldn't reset previous instance

I'm in act 4 and I ran through the entire area and got vaal ruins just before the final boss of the area. I did the vaal ruins and by the time I was finished, the location I was exploring earlier got reset and I have to redo all of it. Are you serious with this? Who decided it was a good idea to put the league mechanic in a separate area and reset the previous area just to waste my time?

Campaign instances reset when empty for like 20 minutes, no matter if you're in temple, hideout or offline.
I know, that's what I'm saying, it's utterly stupid that your main area will reset because you are forced to go to a different area for the vaal ruins and you can lose all progress in the main area. It make zero sense to design a game like this.
You are not forced to go into the temple right away, though.

As soon as the 6th crystal has been lit in any area or map, you can enter the temple via any waypoint by using the new button in the sidebar. It will stay open indefinitely until you run it, even if you continue in the campaign or mapping and come across further vaal beacons.
That's good to know, thanks. Still I feel like I should be able to do it right away without risking losing progress in the main area. But it's good to know I can do it later.
In my opinion, there shouldn't even be portals at the vaal beacons, you should simply be able to collect the room tiles there and then access the temple from some separate area (like the ligthless passage for the well of souls) or waypoints.
