Retention question

At this point when I look at retention of this league.
What do you guys think is worse?

No loot drops and div costing 100ex but you cant afford upgrades?
Or
Tinks each map, div costing maybe 300ex, still cant afford upgrades?

I think the tinks are more stimulating and rewarding. If you talk about people quitting the game more quickly as they are reaching the endgame faster, I see no difference between no loot or tons of tinks versions.
People quitting now because the game is not rewarding your invested time.
So to me its dead end.

(Also, the argument that people quitting faster when there are lot of tinks is not true in my head, when we had such leaue and I min maxed my character, I still had tons of stamina left in me to try a new build and gear it up as well. However for few leagues in poe1 and 2 I am not doing second character at all...Its too time consuming without any reward of my time at all)

How come, affliction league had most retention? And it had so much tinks it was unbelievable, but I wanted to play each single day and hour as I knew something great will drop always.

people obsessing with tinks are killing their own fun. the game is so complex and allows for so many different playstyles, exploring that for me is way more fun than chasing the D per hour strats or w.e the big streamers do.
FYI OP: GGG has confirmed that retention isn't a significant metric for them. What matters to them is whether people return to the next league, and whether they purchase supporter packs.

They make 80% of their income in the first two weeks of the league.

A *lot* of posts on this forum don't understand that dynamic, and try to analyze the game from an MMO perspective.
Evasion-only melee character that can kill Ubers with cheap gear (SSF Rise of the Abyssal), no armor, no energy shield, 62k eHP:

If you have no gear or currency to upgrade characters, there is no exploring or testing... Cause the campaign based on luck is not fun.
