Frustration after League of the Abyss
|
After the initial release one year ago and it's terrible casino crafting, i reentered PoE2 again with the League of the Abyss, to be blown away by all the good stuff that made it's way into the game. Crafting had just the right amount of randomness to hit the sweet spot between frustration and rewardingness. But then GGG's obsession for player metrics kicked in and here we are.
The Omen of Homogenious Exaltation was THE pillar of crafting, easy to understand, hard to master. Without it, i'm just stunned about the amount of ignorance certain game directors can have. It's all about metrics now, the whole temple of the Vaal stuff is just a huge void, melting player's time without any significant reward. Crafting is full casino again. And people like me, who had hope because of the last league, just log off facepalming. Of course, GGG is aware of this. They have entered that path so many times, it's literally on repeat: Don't give players what they want, put randomizing unfun into the game again, oopsi players don't like that, rinse, repeat. There are so many good things in this game. But a small bunch of people keeps destroying all this beautiful work by removing unique ideas that made the game insanely great. Now, PoE2 is just another gambling machine again with a fancy UI. Last bumped on Dec 17, 2025, 9:49:01 AM
