Outdated Trade Listings Showing Items from Long-Inactive Offline Players

There is a serious and long-standing issue with the Path of Exile 1 trade system that needs attention.

The official trade website continues to display items listed by players who are marked as offline and who, in many cases, have not logged into the game for years. These items are effectively unavailable, yet they remain fully searchable and appear as valid trade options.

Problems caused by this system:

Significant waste of player time
Players repeatedly search for items, send whispers, and plan purchases around listings that can never result in a trade. This creates frustration and discourages continued engagement with the trade system.

Misleading market data and price distortion
Inactive listings artificially inflate supply, distort price checks, and make it difficult to determine the real market value of items — especially rare, legacy, or niche gear.

Unnecessary server and data center resource usage
Storing, indexing, and serving trade listings from accounts that have been inactive for years consumes memory, database space, and processing resources in GGG’s data centers, with no practical benefit to active players.

Blocked access to existing items
These items still exist in the game economy, yet active players have no way to access or acquire them, even if they are willing to pay the listed price.

Suggested improvements:

Automatically hide or delist items from accounts that have been inactive for a long period

Require periodic confirmation to keep items listed on the trade site

Clearly flag listings from long-inactive accounts

Or, ideally, provide a system that allows direct purchase or retrieval of items from inactive accounts, so that existing items are not permanently locked out of the economy

At its current state, the trade system creates friction, wastes time, consumes resources, and prevents fair access to items that are already part of the game. Improving this would significantly enhance the overall trading experience in Path of Exile.

Thank you for considering this feedback.

You can filter by if the player is online or not, and you can filter by how long ago the item was posted.

Use the tools you were given.
“Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”
Like Piousdq said, start making use of the filters.

I managed to purchase items where, the items were listed for years and the seller offline for months. Eventually the sellers came online and I managed to get the items.

You think most players will go through their stash again re-listing stuff if GGG delisted them?...

Especially in Standard where, there is a lot of interest in Legacy stuff that is on sale for years, but the seller is offline, also for years.
Pff, who even plays Standard?
