Obession with on ground death effects is killing your game.

I really wish you would tone down the on-ground death effects. At the moment, they feel overwhelmingly punishing for melee characters. It’s frustrating to invest heavily into defenses—max resistances and ailment threshold nodes—only to have your health obliterated regardless of those choices.

Combined with the current lack of visual clarity, playing a melee class often feels unbearable. Many deaths feel unavoidable or unreadable rather than the result of clear mistakes. League after league, this pushes me toward the conclusion that ranged classes are simply the only viable option for efficient grinding, purely to avoid this constant frustration.

Several people I play with have already quit the league within the first week, which is really disheartening to see. I genuinely love this game and want to keep playing it, but the current melee experience makes that increasingly difficult.

then u can never play melee cuz the design of the game doesnt fit melees at all. it never will if they continue with this, tried playing melee, got to 80, figured it sucked BALLS compared to ranged and went back to my 93 ranger.

Correct. TRU-melee is an exercise in futility. If you like pain, go for it. Otherwise stack that blue life and blast like everyone else.

(fake-melee is just fine btw (slams, etc)

the solution to the melee question has yet to be solved in gaming if you ask me. I recently played Fall of Avalon and melee is at least 3x harder than the ranged options for similar reasons as path of exile. You're always in the middle of battle and hits from enemies will hit far more often, which is damage you completely avoid if you're far away from the enemy instead.

Its not a problem with melee, it's a problem with melee players and the idea that it should feel as good as ranged. Man invented ranged weapons for a reason, because getting your face smashed in is unpleasant.

If you love the idea of leaping into combat and bonking with big stick, good for you, do it. But your face will get beat in, and it will suck. Thats just games being true to the play style.

this works alright in games that don't insta-KO you but it's still obnoxious and unfun

i agree 100%

but i went a step further. play whats good until ggg fixes what isnt. to me i apply this to a greater extent to where i actually play other games.
