They aren't fun. Not only is it a waste of my time if I fail, but I have to find another stupid key for it.
I've gotten the first two done. The third and on is just ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. The leap in difficulty is SUBSTANTIALLY out of whack. Who did this???!?!?!?! The penalties are way, way, way, way WAAAAAAAY too harsh...Way too random. And completing THREE back to back trials and then getting to that cheap fucking scorpion boss who spends half the time underground where you can't hit him, waiting to sneak attack almost one shot you..... Poison you, and you just watch your honor trickle down to zero even though you're not at all about to die....."BUT GET SOME CHAOS RESIST" Yea ok. Let me just go farm that on up!! !Oh wait...NOTHING EVER drops with chaos resist on it worth a damn! It's a super special snowflake resist that you can't just get with "all resists"! it's SPECIAL!!!! super special!!! It is a very very high priority, but we decided to make it just not drop most of the time on anything that you get. FUN! Right?.................right? Oh and good luck socketing for chaos resists. HAH! They don't even let you do THAT. And good luck if you got the dark mirror and ended up getting "UNPREDICTABLE BLESSING OF THE WIND" quote unquote "BOON"......and it slows you just as you are about to dodge and get hit, poisoned again and just watch all your honor fade out to nothing and you fail. After spending an hour getting there. With NOTHING To show for it. I'm so over it. NOBODY Likes this. There has been post after post after post and you don't change it, you don't listen, but you DO manage to nerf the shit out of people's favorite builds right quick....You'll gut a build, you'll gut fun, but you never seem to GUT THIS UNBALANCED TRIAL BULLSHIT!!! GUT THE DEBUFFS!!!! And you've created such an unbalanced TURD of a gameplay with them that people are forced to either 1) be a specific build to have a chance of getting them done, relying on all kinds of amazing luck for their gear to drop or 2) pay someone a DIVINE ORB to get them done because they're so ridiculous. A DIVINE ORB. Which also never drops for those of us not lucky enough to get perfect gear with god damn rarity AND all the needed resists on them. This game is just that. A GAME. You guys sat up on stage and called D4 "BAD" but what did you do? You add stupid trap gauntlet trials just like Season 2 of D4 had that nobody liked, so they removed all that garbage. At least Blizzard listened. The absolute worst part of ALL OF IT is that you guys in your sadistic wisdom have locked permanent, necessary player power behind them. I've done sekhemas enough times now that I sort of have a strategy to it. I'm pretty confident getting through it but I still don't like it.
In general I just try to avoid, as much as possible, getting any afflictions. You'll have to take some but basically it's never worth it to take a boon and an affliction. Only hard part will be a boss one shotting you in the level 80 trial - likely one of those twin statues with their massive attacks that go across like the entire arena. In general I find it odd they're so focused on setting up alternate activities to do besides mapping rather than trying to make mapping fun. |

Soon you will be forced to play Rugby in act 4 every single character as well. The trials are a mental hurdle that I have to overcome to even go back to the game every time. I hate playing these mini-games in PoE and on top of that every single aspect about them is just designed to be unfun "as a challenge". "Enemies always crit" or being chased by infinite globules every 5 seconds is just a multiplier to how unfun the game is and nothing else. Running Sekhemas and having a chance to get forced into a "you have no armor" modifier also just makes you hate the game.
The trials are definitely top 3 worst things in the game if not the worst. |

GGG said they wanted it to be hard. You need to feel a sense of accomplishment when you get your points. They are holding to that :p I would honestly love for GGG to post stats on players that quit before each act and the one that actually got all the trials done. The game is so unbalanced in certain areas I know it forces people to give up.

" The other worse part about the chaos trial is the descriptions are very vague. Like the description is "globules periodically fall causing damage in an area". What it doesn't say is that the damage they do will one shot you, the period they fall is every 6 seconds, and the area they cover is 75% of the entire screen. That would have been nice to know before I picked that one lol. |

some of the negatives could be reduced and/or removed as they effectively brick your run tho FYI - you're not supposed to be able to YOLO it on your first try without getting capped honor resist. i completed mine this league in 2.5 tries (the .5 is cause i bricked once due to crazy bad rng) |

I don't know. IMO the trial of the Sekhemas is the only thing worth farming in this game. I'm not running a meta build I put together a firestorm stormweaver on my own and it destroys the trial bosses.
If you are playing a melee build you are going to have a rough time. I always make builds that can play at range or have some sort of crowd control for bosses to farm Sekhemas. The real question is why TF did GGG pick one of the most divisive mechanics in POE1 (people either LOVE it or HATE it) to be one of two ascendancy routes? The other being a reworked form of Ultimatum that sucks way more than in POE1. So many of the choices GGG made for POE2 are just baffling. |
