Playing as a melee feels miserable compare to ranged

I am POE2 player and played 0.1 - 0.3 patches as ranged class, but in 0.4 decided to play melee druid and ... it is awful(. Maybe its druid's defenses are weak
As melee you need(from my experience): 1 - sacrifice a lot of damage in favor of defense early - starting from T6 - i was constantly destroyed because of lack of resistances, armor. When as range class you start capping them at T13-14. 2 - boss one shots - because such skills not always well telegraphed (there is a sound, but not always you hear it unless you play in silence...) and your char is slow as f...(as you traded movement speed for defenses) so you just don't have time to run away 3 - visual clarity of hard hitting attacks of new bosses, for old ones it is more or less manageable. Idk - make boss big and red. 4 - huge amount of ground effects - so as melee you running circles around rares until they explode so you can make 3-5 hits and than again run away(hi abys:)) while as ranged you piu-piu and go next. And yes if i had 100+ divines for gear it doesn't matter as i would melt bosses/rages in seconds but i never will get to that point as melee(because i have 3-5 divines) - i just will go and play as ranged. As melee i feeling like a walking person, but as ranged like i am flying on the rocket... The solution for this idk - maybe give melee some multipliers to defenses while reduce damage for ranges skills - because from my point of view some fairness(for sure ranged will be always better but not 100%) for builds diversity. Very bad idea to start with a build you are not familiar with here in POE2.
I always start with a ranged build that I played in previous leagues or something very similar (LA Deadeye in 0.3 -> PA Pathfinder in 0.4). After getting enough gear and currency, and after multiple patches for the new classes (0.4.c already I believe) and well-established build guides, I'll consider playing the new class. |

Range does have a lot of advantages that’s for sure. Many affixes on rare punish you if you have to get close to do damage.
Sure there are some melee builds that don’t have as much of an issue but the vast majority are just disproportionately punished . Please look into balancing this. |

I think the opposite is true... melee feels great to play, but ranged is an entirely different game and if you're using the Chocobo you'll avoid 95% of everything - projectiles, slams, ground effects and curses etc.
basically every little bs mod and inconvenience made to endanger the player and craft a combat experience doesn't apply. |
