Am I insane or is GGG insane: white mobs are killing me!
|
Hey GGG,
Hope you are doing well in this holiday season but I'm afraid I'm not going to buy another supporter pack unless there's significant improvement to season mechanic (another topic in another day) and more importantly to white mob mechanics. I'm playing a squishy pathfinder poison arrow build, which is supposed to be one of the strongest build if I have GG gears. But reality is, I'm always running away from white mobs rushing at me and sniping me. There are some serious issues with the mechanics of white mobs: 1. Melee white mobs see me through walls. I mean, sure, they rush at me even after a single line of sight on me. But seriously, they want to rush at me from behind the walls in another room, especially in the Temple. Sometimes they can jump across the gaps between rooms and rush at me. Are you serious? WHY SO SERIOUS??? 2. Sniper white mobs refocus their sniping shot at me after I roll away. Man, 20x melee mobs are rushing at me and you want me to wait for 3 seconds for the sniper mob to lock in and then I can roll away. Are you serious? WHY SO SERIOUS??? 3. The white mob that can charge in act 1 (probably "Forgotten Stag") should be tuned back to what it was. Now it can charge in a curve and hit me starting from across the whole room even after I rolled away, like I'm the positive post of a magnet and they are the negative post. I've never seen a monster can charge in a curve and can hit almost 90 degrees off its original charging direction. Are you serious? WHY SO SERIOUS??? Currently the solutions are either having GG gears and one-shot everything, which I don't have and can't do, or carefully approach one pack of mobs at a time and keep rolling away if any sight of snipers/chargers or big glob of melee mobs. I feel like I'm not playing the game but the game is playing me. All these nice farming strategies from streamers and youtubers require at least 2~3 div each round for materials, and any good magic base bows are selling at 3 div or more. How can I begin to improve my gear, if I can't farm any map efficiently and can't afford any base items? Why can't the ritual and expedition just sell white base items and currencies, instead of shitty magic and rare items? I guess the King of the Mist knows these items are garbage, and that's exactly why he's selling these shit to us in exchange for more power. Best, pathfinder Last bumped on Dec 21, 2025, 2:25:54 PM

" Then get some ES/armour/dodge. |

issue is GG want you to put defensive not glass canon. Second issue is there is big space in some maps to run but easily to get instant surrounded.
There is definetly a space for improvement and I agree with some of your points. They reduced the number of monsters and this is good but the maps in endgame really large in size compared to POE1 or the mobs killing is not there yet and still more buffs to gems. So I hope they get more improvements in the mid update for 0.4 ! |

2k life + 1.3k ES, 40% evasion now. Need currency for better gear. These charges/shots are big hits that requires rolling to avoid.
Deflection is good but too far away to get on the passive tree for my build. GG gears are expensive... |

" The answer is always the same: poe1 and now poe2 have "starter builds" (this patch's broken OP skills not needing good gear), and "desired builds" (this patch's broken OP skills scaling extremely strong with good gear). You start with the first, then respec to the latter. Yes, it looks crazy coming from any other arpg with intact progression curve, but it's just how poe works. Start with the wrong skill and suffer dozen times more. I cannot advice ranger starting skills due to not playing ranger, but you certainly chose a right end goal. My friend has poison pathfinder now, and it works like flying through T15+ maps at mach speed, poe1-style. In party I might as well not attack and saunter behind him collecting FFA loot, so he isn't distracted by it. "Meaningful combat inspired by Elden Ring" lol. " Thanks for the advice! I did not play POE1 much so pretty much POE2 is a new game to me and I didn't know for a fact that I must play a starter build first, and then gather resources, and finally do a huge switch to another end-game build I want. I guess for now I'll just keep farming and may see the light at the end of the tunnel soon. If this is how GGG want POE2 to be, at least they should promote Starter builds and clearly let people know how and when to switch. Last edited by AndersonThunder#6733 on Dec 21, 2025, 12:34:35 PM

I’m Sorry, this might be hard to hear but if you’re claiming you can’t handle white mobs then the solution really is “git gud”.
If you can’t figure out how to do this on your own, please spend some time that’s part of the fun of the game, the go take advantage of the tons of support you can get. Because honestly you’re missing something. Hope you can solve this problem because it’s a you problem not a them problem. Best of luck. |

" It's not facing a single white mob or a few mobs gives me the problem. It's a shit ton of melee white mobs rushing at me and at the same time the sniper white mobs aiming at me. Especially when playing ritual, all the shits flying on the screen and I keeping rolling, suddenly my character is about to die. So I have to press healing potion like crazy, keep rolling, fire an arrow, and keep an eye on these ridiculous chargers and snipers. It's just too much and too stressful to handle. And I am going to farm trial of sekhemas to get jewels and then currency, but not from maps. You sounds like GGG is doing everything right, but you did not seem to buy any supporter pack. Do you really love the game and like to support them? Last edited by AndersonThunder#6733 on Dec 21, 2025, 2:00:03 PM

" Sorry, but I think Hendel is right. You're not going insane, and GGG is not going insane. However, you may need to reflect on your expectations. Most builds have limits. You might need better gear, better allocation of passives, change up how you play, or run easier maps. It happens to me too. Don't feel bad, but have a think about it. It's the very nature of PoE, that you have to think and balance your risk, and not do the hardest content possible. Leave that to Ben. |
