Damage reduction ruined the game

Let's spend 40 divines to 2X my damage just so I can kill the boss 0.01 seconds faster.

This was the dumbest decision I've ever seen for a game. I already learned the boss mechanics. Let me kill it fast or what's the point of improving the character
