PoE2 really needs a way to increase difficulty at the high end.

Let me preface this with I'm a huge PoE1 fan. The main reason I believe for that is that no matter how bustedly strong you become, you can always still make a map that's going to kill you. (Though that somewhat changed this last PoE1 season with the nerf to risk scarabs admittedly.) You can always overjuice a boss to the point even your 1m ehp build with tends if not hundreds of millions of DPS is struggling to hurt the thing, and some combination of BS mechanics still kills you, even if you're not entirely sure why half the time.
PoE2 isn't like that. A well designed build just hits a point where... nothing kills you, nothing lives for more than a couple seconds, You never been to look at map mods, or hell even think, you just go forward and everything dies. Look if you're build is under 100 divs of value, or your one of those "I don't want to be a meta slave" types, this post isn't for you. This is just looking at the high end, and the utter lack of meaningful challenge to be found. I feel like the lack of difficulty is a bit of a slap in the face as to what this game was originally proposed to be. Ever season it just seems to get easier and easier as we get more options to combat mobs, acquire more meta knowledge, and the mobs themselves seem to be constantly nerfed, and map mods easier to deal with. Look I'm not saying make the game harder for all the soccer moms, and dad gamers out there who want to struggle bus through the campaign in 2 weeks twice a year, I'm just saying there needs to be something far and beyond where we're getting with full atlas and 6 mod triple tablet t16s. Like I don't even read the waystones.. there isn't a point, at a certainly point you don't notice a difference in any of the mods because they just don't do enough. I think in the long run it's the kind of thing that leads to burnout by your most dedicated players. Last bumped on Dec 21, 2025, 3:27:22 PM

just nerf all builds 90% problem solved

" Ah yes, make the game miserable for everyone else, instead of just adding layers for those who want them. |

Yeah this is pretty much my point. It's fine if the game is ease at the low end. There are always going to be people who are either just bad at the game, or want to try silly meme builds. That's fine.
But if you have game knowledge, pretty much the second you hit 75 you just go get your 4 ascendency's by clowning on Trialmaster, and hop into 6 mod t15's and are instantly unchallenged. The end game lacks... endgame. And it's not just a lack of content. They have been purposely down tuning the difficulty every patch. 0.1 was actually fairly hard. This is an intentional sabotage of challenging content. There needs to be something on the level of uber juiced PoE1 t16s at least. NGL I feel like PoE2 difficulty currently caps at a baseline no scarab t16 6 mod from PoE1.... Maybe a memory map at the absolute most. Last edited by Jhaerik2#3188 on Dec 21, 2025, 2:56:23 PM

" core gameplay of poe 2 is slower and methodical gameplay. If someone should get layered - those are poe 1 zoomers and other casuals. and not to the situation which we have where some builds just end- the entire map and run trough atlas in 1 minute while holding one button |
