Cannot Progress Cataclysm's Wake

I died in between killing the map boss and the corruption boss spawning. The corruption boss never spawned. I've since explored a fair bit of the map (went to 5-6 additional towers to get move visibility around the map) and now it appears no new corrupted zones are forming, I haven't seen any signs of corruption on the edges of the fog of war and when I zoom in on any visible towers I can't see the faint red/vine look that you generally can see as an indicator of corruption. I also tried joining a friend's game and completing a corrupted boss there but that did not progress the quest.

Please help, this completely shuts down my progression and future earnings :(
