“You cannot use this item. Its stats will be ignored”

Hey guys,

I’m jumping back in to POE2 after a while and I was wanting to revisit my old Monk build and sort out all the stash updates that I have not even touched since Dawn of the Hunt.

I’m having an issue with my Quarterstaff that says “You cannot use this item. Its stats will be ignored” and I could not find solutions online or explanation as to why - the old thread with a similar issue was with their quivers and something to do with which weapon slot etc.

However, after a lot of fiddling and looking around and even playing around with my passives I still can’t find a way to equip my quarterstaff. Could someone explain what might have happened and what I need to do?

Best case scenario is that i’m absolutely stupid and there’s something really simple that I missed. Please help :(


!!EDIT: Thank you everyone - I found out it was because of the runes I had equipped. I was within all the necessary requirements however I had multiple runes of thelds which i’m assuming got updated recently or something. No matter :) I just switched the runes around and we’re back

Can't you just check the requirements? Like stats and level?

Limit of 1 on socketables perhaps?

The gems you have equipped. If you have a skill that cannot use a staff, it will give you that error.
