Add WASD movement

Please take the only good thing from PoE2 and add it to PoE1 so that we can ignore PoE2 entirely.
It's worth noting that +2 maps are a dangerous thing. They can cause players to get out of their depth - playing maps that are too hard for the items they currently have. Herp Derp. Last bumped on Jan 18, 2026, 9:36:09 PM

I think GGG is needlessly complicating this.
Already existing animations should be enough - characters can just face the running direction as they do now rather than the pointer, they can face the attack direction when a skill is used. Since you can't use skills while moving in PoE1 you also don't need the running attack animations. I figure that skill interrupt can be handled by releasing and pressing the directional key again. If one had enough determination - technically a movement scheme like that could already be scripted on player's computer by periodically moving the mouse pointer to direction you input, click and then restore the pointer location plus any delta registered while executing this. And when a skill is used delay these clicks for a configured duration. It would probably have a bunch of quirks but should be enough to prove that no additional rigging or animation work is needed. In other words - while it is cool and amusing, I don't really care if I can spin while running. It can be added later if desired. |
