Spell totem elemental infusion interactions

I tried a few ways to generate or spend elemental infusions with spell totems but all of them failed:

1. Spell totem linked to living bomb does not generate a fire infusion remnant after exploding. Possibly the remnant spawns for the totem and I can't even see it? The wording on the skills does not explicitly explain this. I tried linking Selfless Remnants too (I'm guessing I would be an ally to the totem), but I'm not sure if the remnant could be collected by the totem, if it spawns for it at all.

2. There's no way to make spells used by spell totems consume elemental infusions. Tried it with comet in spell totem, generating infusions with self-cast living bomb. I've seen comet linked to a trigger gem can consume infusions when triggered. Does not work with the totem, which makes some sense, the infusion is on the player not the totem. I also tried to link my living bomb to Selfless Remnants, possibly giving it to my totems, but it didn't work either. I think this could be a cool interaction, comet casting spell totems would be awesome.
