Cast on Crit stopped working

I didn't make any changes to my character, but I was playing an alt, then when I came back to my main, my cast on critical no longer functioned. I would get a message saying that the item couldn't be used with the weapon set, or that the triggered spell wasn't socketed. I had to make an entirely new skill gem to make it work again.
