[3.27] Lightning Golem Necromancer, all content + Uber viable ~150m DPS

Intro:

Hi everyone,

I want to show you my Lightning Golem Necromancer which performed well in various types of content including mapping, (AFK-)Blight and killing Uber bosses. I first played Lightning Golems in 3.21 on the Ascendant but the build was only viable for a single league. Since then a lot of changes have been made to the witch ascendencies so the Necromancer is now better in comparison.

Basics:

The LGs are permanent ranged minions that have three abilities: A Lightning Bolt, a Storm Orb and a Wrath aura.

The main ability, Lightning Bolt, has a cast time of 1s, a 15% less cast speed modifier, decent base damage and 250% effectiveness of added damage.

The Storm Orb has a cast time of 0.8s, 60% effectiveness of added damage, an 8s cooldown and 8s duration. It strikes a nearby enemy every 0.5s and isn't super useful due to the low dmg and limited range.

The Lightning Golem's Wrath grants a minuscule amount of added Lightning Damage and doesn't stack with the auras from other LGs.

The minion scales well with +levels, flat added damage, cast speed, crit and maximum number of golems. Increased Cooldown recovery (from quality, Primordial Harmony or the minion mastery) lowers dps because the golems use their secondary abilities more often and should thus be avoided.

Class/Ascendancy:

You want to play LGs on the Necromancer so you can grab Commander of Darkness, Mindless Aggression, Bone Barrier and Mistress of Sacrifice for increased damage, elemental resistances, minion&player survivability, skill effect duration, Offerings applying to the player as well as Minions leeching life to the player. In the high budget you can replace Commander of Darkness with Plaguebringer for more damage dealt and reduced damage taken.

You can use the Forbbiden Jewels to allocate Plaguebringer in the medium budget and Liege of the Primordial in the high budget.

Bandits & Pantheon:

Kill all bandits for the passive points.

Use Soul of the Brine King for freeze immunity and reduced chill effect as well as Soul of Ryslatha for flask charges and increased life flask recovery on low life.

Levelling:

The base skill gem can be accessed after the quest 'Breaking the Seal' in Act 4 but shouldn't be used early on due to the limited number of golems available to the player. I recommend playing as Absolution until you have gotten the Lightning Golem of Hordes and allocated Golem Commander.

The Lightning Golem of Hordes is a transfigured gem which you can access via lab or trade.

This Video features an Uber bossing showcase and the build guide for 3 different levels of investment (8, 60, 600 divs)

Pros and cons

Pros:
+ permanent, ranged minions with amazing survivability
+ Decent defenses: Block Capped, 2 endurance charges and scales down elemental & chaos dmg by a combination of Divine Flesh+Fourth Vow
+ great bosser
+ great clear-speed

Cons:
- Dated AI: less than optimal activity and engagement range even when toggled aggressive
- Requires a set of Primordial Jewels + Anima Stone which represents an investment barrier in the beginning and gem pressure later on
- The mapping setup requires Volley and Pierce for clear speed which costs 30-40% dmg compared to the bossing setup
- Visual clarity is impacted by the Lightning Projectiles (especially relevant for the high budget)
- The high budget is expensive due to the Forbidden Jewel combo and the multi-link weapon

Spectres and AG

For the spectres you should use the Perfect Blasphemer, the Perfect Spirit of Fortune and the Perfect Hulking Miscreation (they are itemised and can be found in Rituals or bought from trade). You can later add a Stygian Silverback as your fourth spectre for frenzy charges.

Before that you can use two Stygian Silverbacks and a Host Chieftain. They can be found in:

Act 2 - The Riverways (Stygian Silverback)
Act 6 - The Southern Forest (Host Chieftain)

The gear of the AG heavily depends on the budget and can be found in the gear section of the respective PoBs.
