I have been away for a very long time

Hello everyone and happy new year to you all.
I have played PoE a bit in a very far away past, it's almost like "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...." :) , I just completed the campaign, I never reached end game maps or anything like that. I have a few questions about the state of PoE 1 since now we have PoE 2 available. In terms of development and content, is PoE2 getting all the attention or GGG keeps and intends to release content for PoE 1 as well? The current PoE 1 league, do we know how long it will last? When are we getting the new league? Is it late for me to jump into the current league or should I just go for standard? Is it true that now we can do all the trade in-game and not have the need for third party addons? Are there any good websites where I can check builds? PoE is so complex, I have no idea what to do or how to do it. I'm looking forward to meaningful feedback. Take care guys. Last bumped on Jan 8, 2026, 11:08:37 AM

The theory is that PoE 1 and PoE 2 will get shared dev time with 4 month leagues each. However there has been a marked decrease in updates/fixes for PoE 1 leagues since PoE 2 started. However there is a part of me that is waiting for GGG to announce that PoE 1 is in maintenance mode and full resources will go to PoE 2. Thats just my gut feeling and is not based on anything GGG has actually said for what its worth.
Its probably got two months ish left so if thats enough time for you go for it. Trade will obviously be a bit slower. Yes although 3rd party price checkers are still popular Personally I go to poe ninja for inspiration and mold peoples builds there to fit my needs. Im sure some others can give options for actual build website/content creators. Also make sure you have the path of building community fork downloaded if you dont already. Its an integral part of build guides and making your own builds if you get that far. Last edited by gladiatorpie#3317 on Jan 8, 2026, 10:16:30 AM

1) Devtime. Honestly idk and i doubt that anyone outside of GGG knows anything at all about that. It's all speculation. It's clear though, that GGG atm has some issues maintaining their former 3-4 months release schedule. (Imo they would need two seperate teams, but well...)
2) League is much better than standard imho, especially now with async trade, because the slow decline in population doesn't affect the market as much anymore. 3)Resources: Path of Building community fork and filterblade.xyz are paramount. (Filterblade is basically part of the game.) Maxroll.gg is probably the biggest website atm for buildguides and other information about ARPGs. Poe-Vault.com is also good for those things. Craftofexile.com for, well, crafting. Poe.Ninja for all kinds of information about the current economy and builds. Poe.wiki is the good wiki. (Don't use fandom). Awakened Poe Trade is still great for pricechecking and chatboxcommands. Last but not least poe.re generates regex code, wich is invaluable for buying and checking maps. dedadadadedoodoodoo is all i want to say to you
