Infested barrens large soul core bug

We are playing in a party with a friend and got stuck infested barrens. While I was at ziggurat encampment setting up my inventory my party member went ahead to infested barrens to activate the soul core altar. When I get to the barrens the soul core is on the altar but the water level remains impassable. I cant interact with the altar myself and the quest progression is stuck.
