Really tired of price fixing bots
|
This game is getting tiresome every league more and more bots that just flip items appear. I love going to buy something and seeing that its incredibly over priced and then when i go to buy it the "account" that has it also has 20 tabs of the item.
So curious i go and do a live search over a couple hours on the item and run a little experiment to see if my hunch is right and imagine to my surprise every time said "item" appeared on trade it was relisted not even a minute later by this "account" for a upcharge. Now why is nothing being done about this scummy behavior when its clearly RMT bots More than likely a burner account that is used to sell items unless this account somehow managed to get over 120k divines to buy 20 tabs of the item Last edited by GreatWhiteRawr#4735 on Jan 9, 2026, 3:04:11 AM Last bumped on Jan 10, 2026, 3:59:19 AM

GGG bans thousands of bots in PoE1 and I imagine that also in PoE2, with the bot detection methods prolly largely shared between the games.
I do somehow doubt that bots were really as big of an issue as often made out to be. Like.. let's say, GGG could ban a thousand bots a month, if there were that many bots, which I don't know if there is. Anyway, then a thousand new bot accounts would be bought. Let's say you get those for a bit of a discount. Even then, it's more than ten thousand bucks a month spent on bots for PoE2. Do enough people really do that? " There's genuine players who do these sort of things. Some focus a lot on gathering specific item bases and crafting them when they look for that BiS item. They might make a thousand attempts before they hit the perfect outcome. And they sell the good-but-not-perfect outcomes. I haven't even been obsessive about that but I have like twenty Reaping Staves between levels 65 to 85 in my stash. And some - fairly few I imagine, but some - try to manipulate the market by buying off specific kinds of items and putting them back for sale for a slightly higher price. " This is a good one. :) |

I also do this frequently throughout leagues, and am not a bot. At least not a self aware one.

I see the clown rodeo came into town recently crafting and selling failures is not having over a thousand megalomaniac sitting in 20 stash pages.

" Do not misunderstand my reply, I am not defending bots/RMT cartels... You are right, market manipulation is a real thing, I've done it on PoE1 on Playstation, which is a very small community at the moment. I did it on awakened multistrike gems and Doryanis Machinarium map. PoE economy model is very sensitive to market manipulation, even without bots (automation by software). We have have to keep in mind that a group of players can make a guild, have for example a small group of pushers (speedrunners), carries and Timmies that is organized to take over the league on start by having a full guild working to support the pushers on the first hours, then have the carries running aurabot/culler groups with Timmies, all of this while pipelining gear from the top to bottom to support the people which initially supported the pushers. They can pull all their earnings into a guild tab and have a few members manage all their loot. This is SMART PLAY 😎 (pun intended). Now if we take this model, and keep recruiting Timmies, train them with builds, strategies, etc... Have those Timmies after one league or two leading another independent cells... Once you reach around 1000 people organization, you can effectively take over the league economy by day 2 (my simulations point to 600 people, but let's be generous). This is not cheating, it's an effort of players to push back against what has been forced to us. This is the best way I could devise to fight back RMT, polling human resources to devalue all their investment. I think this would be also fair to call it SMART PLAY (pun intended) 😎. Best way to hit RMT, remove Gravebind from the game. Keep fighting the attrition of war on bots, keep banning, possible link the game to a neural network to help (ask Temcent to fund it, they can use it accross their entire portfolio). It's a long war, it's a tough war... And it's being fought... Personal Note: I love when I try to trade for an item, and after I click on the transfer to hideout button I get a small message, 'This account has been banned' 😈 |
