Trial of Corruption

I am having an issue with this quest where the NPC is supposed to open the gates while I defend her but after fighting an Elite Enemy before opening the last gate the NPC froze in place and was not able to move. I tried leaving the area, warping, and closing my game but each time I come back the NPC is stuck in place and won't let me progress the main quest.
