atzotal map device not showing remaining portals after death

Basically, after every death, the game no longer shows how many map attempts you have left.
This issue started this league and didn’t occur in the previous one.
It also seems somewhat inconsistent — most of the time, the counter disappears after dying and can be reset be leaving the area via waypoint
