Constant freezing

Game will constantly freeze in maps or hideout for a solid 30 seconds, hit back with a loading screen and during the load screen shader and CPU usage goes OVERLOAD

This has been happening to me since 1/11/2026 assuming its possible something slipped through the cracks of hotfixes

During this problem, event viewer will return with Event 153 nvlddmkm which will ONLY happen with POE2

Intel I7 13700k
ROG STRIX 4080
32GB DDR5 5100mt
2TB 980 pro PCIE 4.0

The steps ive done in an attempt to fix :

DDU into safe mode (no networking) and installing fresh drivers

Reseating GPU and or RAM (tried using 2 sticks, then each stick by themself)

changed permissions on the nvddlmkm file in System32 for full control at user level

Moved POE2 to a different drive

Undervolted GPU

Ran Memtest and Furmark both passed

Disabled hardware acceleration on backgrounds apps

Tried a completely separate GPU

I will not be reinstalling windows as from multiple posts across many other forums it will not fix the issue
As ive read here there are a select few other posts of people having the same/similar issue so im leaning more toward this being something caused through POE2

Everyone has this shader compile bug. Nothing you can do will fix it.

Little update, after several hours of messing around with everything I seem (cross my fingers) to have come across a temporary fix

Changed my game to DX11 (DX12 and Vulkan were having the issue)

Added
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
DWORD (32-bit) → TdrLevel = 0

Added in NVIDIA Control Panel
-Low Latency Mode → OFF
-Power Management → Prefer Maximum Performance
-Threaded Optimization → ON
-Vertical Sync → Off

In-game Settings
-Texture Quality - High
-Filtering - Trilinear
-Lighting - Shadows + Global Illumination
-Shadow - low
-Sun Shadow - low
-Lights - low
-Bloom - 25%
-Water detail - low
-NVIDIA Reflex - off
Triple buffering, Dynamic culling, and multithreading enabled
