Right-Click Fatigue

Let me start by saying that
1. This isn't me raising my chin at everybody who enjoys Endgame. I am genuinely interested in how you avoid what I'm about to speak of.
2. This also isn't about POE2 in particular, I have this issue in almost all ARPGs, but since I'm currently playing POE2 - this is where it goes.

How do you all avoid Right-Click Fatigue?
What i mean is, by the end of Act 3, most, if not all, skills have been unlocked, and how you will play the remaining endgame and subsequent hours is set. Let it be Ice Strike or Flicker Strike or Fireball - the most optimized skill will be set to a single button and you run map after map just pressing that one button.
I mostly lose interest around that point and start a new character because unlocking skills, playing around with builds, and figuring out how to (small-scale) optimize my potential are the most fun I get out of it.

What I´ve never managed to put my finger on is:
Am I the problem? Do I unwittingly take the fun out of the games I play, or are these game shortcomings?
Should there be further gameplay "evolution" after unlocking all skills?

How do you all avoid RCF? Am i simply playing the game wrong? Am i missing something fundamentally?

Thanks and have a good day.

1 skill builds are rather boring yes.

You are doing it right.....at least in the sense that "you can only succeed at this game by doing that".

The real problem is GGG. In theory, they seemed to understand this problem, and introduce the combo based skill system they so eagerly try to promote with every announcement of new content. The real issue is that they either ignore it, or just fail to see that after Act 2 that type of gameplay falls apart. You cannot do combo/use multiple skills when groups of monsters swarm you at the fastest speed possible.

In short: it's a game design issue; you have to play 1 button builds.

this is what I do

Balance just sucks. I played a hand-made Permafrost Gemling in 0.3 SSF and only ever needed 2 buttons. I played an Align Fate-Plants/Bear Oracle this league in SSF and used 8 buttons with even more investment than the 2 button build. It used Entangle, Trashing Vines, Thunderstorm, Tornado, Reap, Ferocious Roar (Seismic Cry), Maul, and Furious Slam (for single target). There are ways to make this build more powerful with less buttons but you can also build in a way that incentivizes using many.

Basically, nerf yourself if you want to have fun. If you don't have fun killing enemies/bosses slower, then go play Nioh 2 or 3 where there is actually gameplay to be had.

I only play SSF and it is my duty as one to inform you of my status.
