Does Asenath's Gentle Touch explod really require near the cursed corpse??

For some reason,
I found that use Righteous Fire + Witchfire Brew
can trigger Asenath's Gentle Touch explod

But in this case, the only curse on enemy are from Witchfire Brew
(Curse Aura), so should not leave cursed corpse.

However sometimes I still see enemy die with cursed corpses leave on the ground.

and the explod works.

So I assume Asenath's Gentle Touch explod only require cursed enemy,
nearby corpsed are not mandatory??
