Leave debuffs on after death
|
one of the many QoL failures of PoE, an otherwise great game, came at me again. Debuffs mostly/all go away at death, which means explanations get lose. I'm improving, finally taking on pinnacle bosses I couldn't beat before; I'm up against the Maven now, and I end up dying, in part because of some problematic debuffs. The problem ofc is, you CANT stop to read the debuffs tooltips midfight, because you'll die if you do. Nor can you read them once dead, because the tooltip goes away; so all the info about what the debuff actually does that the tooltip provides is basically hidden.

What I would really like is for the option (optional since toaster computers exist) to buffer up to maybe 10-15 seconds of gameplay in sort-of spectator mode, in such a manner that you can have a replay when either you get killed or something hits you really hard, or an icon shows up someplace and you have no idea what it is...such that you can lock the buffer and play it back with free mouse to be able to mouse over stuff and look at whats going on. I still couldn't tell you what the icons for most of the debuffs in the game are, or what half of the nasty explosions that kill me faster than I can spot them come from.
I think it keeps the spirit of not presenting exact mathematical solutions via logging that Chris wanted to avoid, while also providing good useable feedback to learn from your mistakes and feel out your gameplay for better effect rather than spend weeks digging around on reddit, poewiki and poedb, if that makes sense - especially since its only a marginal step beyond using steam video buffering to do almost the same thing.
