Armour Scales with Distance

The closer you are to a source of damage the more effective armour will be. The scaling factor should be adjusted such that dedicated melee builds that stack armour have comparable durability to dedicated range builds that stack evasion.

This change should make it less punishing for the average player to run a melee build while leaving the average ranged player unaffected.

Armour is More Effective Against Area Damage

Most of the annoying instant death damage sources in the game are AoE, if armour could protect against them the relative value of armour would increase.

Maybe armour could even scale in proportion to the size of the area, providing protection against sources of area damage that are more likely to overlap.
