Technical feedback regarding performance, optimization, and accessibility in Path of Exile 2

Hello,

I am writing to provide detailed technical feedback regarding the current performance state of Path of Exile 2 and its impact on accessibility for a significant portion of the player base.

In its current state, Path of Exile 2 presents serious performance and stability issues, particularly related to rendering, resource usage, and overall engine optimization. The hardware requirements feel disproportionately high when compared to the visual output and gameplay experience delivered on screen.

My question is direct and technical in nature. How is it possible that Diablo IV runs flawlessly in HD on the same system where Path of Exile 2 struggles to maintain stability and acceptable performance? This strongly suggests inefficiencies in engine optimization rather than actual hardware limitations.

From a technical standpoint, Path of Exile 2 appears to place excessive strain on both CPU and GPU resources. This is likely due to a combination of real-time rendering complexity, shader handling, asset streaming, and general engine overhead. The result is a poor performance-to-quality ratio, where the game demands high-end hardware without delivering a proportional improvement in visual fidelity or gameplay smoothness.

It also appears that current development priorities place too much emphasis on visual detail and technical ambition, while sacrificing consistent frame pacing, stability, and scalability across a wider range of systems. Many players would reasonably prefer reduced visual complexity if it ensured a stable and playable experience. Performance should be a baseline requirement, not a premium feature.

Beyond client-side performance, there are also serious issues with server infrastructure, particularly the Brazil server. When playing from Argentina, this server is consistently unstable, with irregular latency and frequent interruptions. As a result, I am forced to play on United States servers, introducing unavoidable lag, even though the game previously allowed stable gameplay on the regional server. This regression further impacts overall playability.

What makes this situation especially frustrating is that the game previously ran without major issues on my system. I have 1,079 hours recorded, and the current inability to play coincides directly with recent updates described as improvements or adjustments. This indicates that recent changes have negatively affected performance and stability.

I have also invested real money in stash tabs, based on confidence in the future of the game. At this point, however, I am unable to properly enjoy a product that I have financially supported.

I would also like to highlight an important accessibility concern. While I am a long-time fan of Path of Exile, not all players are able to continuously upgrade their hardware. Real-life circumstances such as chronic health conditions, family responsibilities, and financial limitations can make such upgrades impossible. When performance regressions effectively require increasingly expensive hardware, part of the existing player base is unintentionally excluded.

To be clear, this is not an issue caused by improper configuration or unwillingness to support the game. It is a matter of optimization, engine efficiency, and server stability, all of which should be addressed to ensure that Path of Exile 2 remains playable and accessible to its established audience.

I respectfully ask that performance optimization, engine stability, and reasonable hardware scalability be prioritized, even if that requires reducing visual complexity. Many players simply want to be able to play the game reliably, not push their hardware to extreme limits.

Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback. I sincerely hope it is taken into consideration, as I would like nothing more than to continue playing Path of Exile 2.

Kind regards.
