"Character name field missing European letters: Ö, Ő, Ű (present since PoE 1)"
|
Hello Grinding Gear Games team,
I am a Hungarian player and I want to bring your attention to a small but important issue. The character name field in Path of Exile 2 does not support several European characters, including the Hungarian letters Ö, Ő and Ű. Interestingly, Ü is already supported, which suggests these were simply overlooked rather than intentionally excluded. This issue was already present in Path of Exile 1 and has now carried over into Path of Exile 2. Early Access would be the perfect opportunity to finally address this. I want to emphasize how minor this fix would be on your end. These characters already exist in the Unicode standard. You already render Cyrillic, Japanese, Chinese and Korean characters which require significantly more complex implementation. Adding these missing European characters is not a feature request - it is closer to flipping a switch. The impact on affected players is significant. Dozens of traditional Hungarian first names become unavailable. Names like Ernő, Jenő, Dezső, Előd, Örs, Ödön - names that real people carry - simply cannot be entered. These are not exotic symbols, they are everyday European letters. I respectfully ask you to add support for these missing European characters. The effort required on your side is minimal. The appreciation from affected players would be enormous. Thank you for your time. Last bumped on Feb 19, 2026, 5:27:09 AM
