Cast on Ele Ailment Spirit Gem Bugged I think?

Cast on Elemental Ailment doesn't recognize there is a skill gem equipped in the socket but *only* on my character. I've had to remake it 3 times so far as it seems to work for a short while before just completely breaking. I can give all 3 of the gems to a friend and they work just fine on his character but on mine it doesn't work. This is unplayable at this point due to the cost. I have to buy a new spirit gem AND a jewelers costing more than a div a pop. Please help
