Are we still rolling before sprinting?

Know what other games had dodge and run bound to the same button but didn’t fail in such proportions? The same ones you took inspiration from when making this one, yeah.

I’m no expert in coding but have you tried adding a line or 2, to detect when spacebar is touched to prioritize when it is held over when it is tapped?
Give that a try will you?

It's deliberate design and unlikely it will change.
Let me try to explain why.

Have you notice that we have MASSIVE stash tabs, and inventory and no sorting features?

GGG have quite an Unwavering stance against QoL features. Adding any QoL is a cardinal sin for them.

Sprint appeared as result of players complaining about characters being too slow and maps being too big. But not at first. At first *Monkey paw curls* there were more checkpoints!
But checkpoint is in essence QoL feature - so it's big no-no. So they made them mostly useless. Adding a massive negative side-effect to QoL feature so it will be BAD and not really a QoL.

Next step was Sprint. Yes now we can move faster. *Monkey paw curls* But there is a heavy stun if take damage while Sprinting, and it's on the same button as Dodge, so inputs can be misread and we will occasionally die from Dodge that turned into Sprint. Also it massively nerfed Blink.

And ever since Sprint was added and was massively criticized by players - no reaction from GGG on this topic.

It's Bad by design and unlikely to change.

Another thing I would like to see added is a stop/hold position hotkey, instead of only the stop while firing command.

maybe there could be a hotkey for
Roll/Sprint
Roll
Sprint

so people can choose if they want it on the same key or not.

In an interview a bit before 0.4 release Jonathan have been ask if it was possible to separate sprint from dodge by being able to remap sprint on another key. (Interview with Talkativ Tri)

He said something like "Oh yeah sure we could do that, i had no idea people were willing that. We could check at it."

I'm still hoping it arrive one day.

I dont know with the amount of post on this forum about it how they were not aware. I guess only moderators read this section.

That's the day i understood this forum had no use other than us chatting and ranting together in the wind =)

Basically this outlines all the reasons concisely and explains why it won't change anytime soon. /thread
D2R adding QOL shows you how important it is, and since perhaps POE has done everything in it's power to be the same "but better" maybe now they will follow suit.

Or the time wasted is there to pad time played for shareholders in which case the exodus of players would have to out weigh the benefits of wasting player time.

Each time I hit these inflated time wasting roadblocks it gets infinitely easier to shelf this game. Each time I shelf it, it gets harder to pick up.

So for me at least, it's not working.
